How this village is built
Narrow lots, a town square, and houses that grew upward
Providence was drawn from scratch starting around 2005 as a walkable village instead of a subdivision, and everything about our work here follows from it. The lots are narrow on purpose. So the square footage went vertical: row homes, brownstones, cottages and live/work units stacked two and three stories over a small footprint, porch on the front, garage off a rear alley.
Jimmy Bryan Construction, VTS Homes, Regent Homes and Ford Classic Homes built much of it. The fiber under your feet is almost always 2005-and-later synthetic, so it is neither fragile nor old. It is just absorbing a whole household's traffic through a very small opening.
We work Providence Main Street, Town Center Drive and Wellman Avenue, plus the blocks feeding the town square and the Providence Main retail and office district. All of it sits four to five miles from our shop, which makes a same-morning slot in 35806 one of the easiest asks on our board.

The stairs are the job
Two flights, a landing, and the carpet everybody complains about
In a flat ranch, foot traffic spreads itself out across a hall and a den. In a three-story townhome it has exactly one route, and that route is up. Every trip to bed and every basket of laundry goes over the same treads, and so does the dog when it hears the front door. A ten-year-old staircase in this village routinely looks a decade older than the bedroom carpet it leads to.

This is the part outside crews underestimate. The village streets were drawn narrow on purpose, the curb along the town square belongs to the shops, and the garages open onto alleys about wide enough for one truck to think about it. A crew that has to park out front and run a hundred feet of hose is losing before it unloads.
