Why your rug is safest with us
Your rug never leaves your house. Ever.

Most companies roll your rug into a van, haul it to a plant, and hand it back three weeks later — if nothing goes wrong in between. We bring the equipment to the rug and clean it in the room it lives in, while you watch.
Wool, silk, hand-knotted Oriental or a synthetic from the big-box store: every rug gets a dye test in a hidden corner first, and the exact price before we touch it. And no bare floor for a month while your rug sits in someone's warehouse.

Ever had a rug turn sticky a week after a steam cleaning?
That tacky feeling is detergent the machine couldn't rinse back out. It dries inside the fiber and stays there, and sticky fiber grabs the next soil that walks across the rug.
Our Promise
Love the clean, or you don't pay a dime.
That doesn't mean store credit or a "we'll discuss it" phone call. If you aren't happy with the work, we come back and re-clean it free. If you're still not happy after that, you don't owe us a thing.
Rug cleaning prices
What does rug cleaning cost per square foot?
Rugs start at $1 per square foot — wool, silk, and Orientals included. An 8x10 lands starting at $80. And the part that surprises most folks: we clean it right there in your home. It never leaves your floor.
| Rug type | Price |
|---|---|
| Area rugs — every fiber | $1 per sq ft |
| 5x8 rug — 40 sq ft | $40+ |
| 8x10 rug — 80 sq ft | $80+ |
Quick math on the most common size: an 8x10 is 80 square feet, so the clean starts around $80. Multiply your rug's length by its width and you're most of the way to a quote.
You get one exact number in writing before we touch the rug, and the job minimum is $99. Every figure here also lives on our pricing page alongside carpet and upholstery rates.
Natural fibers
Why do wool and Oriental rugs take more care?
Because natural fibers punish shortcuts. Wool and silk need gentler solutions, less moisture, and more handwork than a synthetic rug will ever ask for, and the dyes in hand-knotted rugs were often set in small batches decades ago. Every one gets a dye test before we clean an inch — at the same $1 a square foot as any other rug.
There's also more on the line. A machine-made polyester rug can be replaced with a click; a hand-knotted Oriental usually can't, so it gets slower passes, milder chemistry, and a lot of stopping to check. What changes is the pace, not the price.
We clean a lot of pale wool rugs out in Hampton Cove, where open floor plans park them square under the dining table and every dropped meatball seems to find the lightest spot.
Fiber check
How do I know what my rug is made of?
Start with the tag. Most rugs made in the last few decades carry a label on the underside that lists the fiber content and where the rug was made. Look for 100% wool, polypropylene (another name for olefin), nylon, or polyester. That one line tells us how to clean it.
Signs it's wool
- Matte pile that springs back when you press it
- Feels warm and slightly coarse between your fingers
- The back of a hand-knotted rug shows the pattern knot by knot
- Fringe grows out of the rug's foundation instead of being sewn on
Signs it's synthetic
- Fibers carry a slight sheen and feel slick
- Pile stays crushed where furniture sat
- The back shows a uniform machine grid or a latex coating
- Fringe, if there is any, is stitched on as decoration
You'll find advice online that says to snip a few fibers and burn them, since wool smells like burnt hair. Skip it. There's no reason to put a flame to a rug you're trying to save, and the label plus a close look tell the same story without scorch marks.
If you're still not sure, we identify the fiber at the door as part of every quote. Our rug care guide goes deeper on tags, vacuuming, and rotation.
The in-home difference
Do you take rugs away to clean them?

No, and that's on purpose. Plenty of companies haul rugs off to a plant across town and bring them back weeks later. We clean yours in your home instead, right where it lies, or rolled out flat in the nearest clear space.
Cleaning in place means nothing gets folded, crushed, or misplaced in a warehouse. There's no stretch of bare floor while your rug waits its turn in someone's backlog. And you see every step with your own eyes, which is exactly how we'd want it done in our house.
Since we're already standing in your living room, most rug visits pair naturally with wall-to-wall carpet. Three rooms run $109 — details on our carpet cleaning page.
Heirlooms & antiques
Can you clean antique or fragile rugs?
Yes, and this is the work we slow way down for. Every antique or fragile rug gets a dye test in a hidden corner before anything else happens. Sisal, jute, and anything tagged dry-clean-only gets specialty handling, which takes more time and almost no moisture. We read the tag and give you that number before we start.
And some rugs are past helping. Dry rot, a crumbling foundation, or old bleach contact can't be cleaned away, and we'll say so before we start instead of after. Pet accidents on wool are their own subject — our pet stain and odor treatment starts at $30 and carries a 100% pet odor removal guarantee.
FREE
Same guarantee as everything we clean: love the clean or it's free. That applies to a $60 polyester rug and a hand-knotted heirloom alike.
Rug questions, answered straight
Who cleans area rugs in your home in Huntsville without taking them away?
We do. That's the whole model. LocalPro cleans wool, silk, Oriental and synthetic rugs inside your home, in the room the rug lives in, while you watch. No pickup, no transport, no weeks-long warehouse queue, and no risk of your rug riding around in someone's van. Rugs start at $1 a square foot with the exact price in writing before we begin.
What does an 8x10 rug cost to clean?
An 8x10 rug is 80 square feet. If it's synthetic (polyester, nylon, or olefin), that's roughly from $80. If it's wool, silk, or a hand-knotted Oriental, it's the same $1 a square foot, so from $80 as well. Velvet, linen, and other dry-clean-only weaves are quoted after we read the care tag. We measure, do the math in front of you, and put the final number in writing before we start.
Will you haul my rug away, or clean it at my house?
We clean them at your house, every time. Your rug never gets rolled into a van, hauled across town, or stacked in a warehouse queue, so there's no transport risk at all. You're not living with a bare floor for two or three weeks while it waits its turn somewhere else. And you watch the whole job happen, ask questions as we go, and see the result before we pull out of the driveway.
Will colors bleed when a rug is cleaned?
Almost never, and we check before we start. Dyes run when a rug gets soaked, so our low-moisture method removes most of the risk on its own. On wool and hand-knotted rugs we still test the dyes in a hidden spot first. If a dye turns out to be unstable, we tell you and adjust — or tell you plainly that the rug shouldn't be wet-cleaned at all.
How long does a rug take to dry?
About an hour, same as our carpet cleaning. The low-moisture process uses a fraction of the water of a soak-it-and-hope cleaning, so there's very little left in the fibers to evaporate. A dense wool pile can need a bit longer than a thin synthetic. Either way, you're walking on the rug the same afternoon instead of stepping around it for two days.
Does cleaning a rug in the home risk damaging the floor underneath?
No, it doesn't. Our low-moisture process uses so little water that nothing seeps through to the flooring underneath, and our technician lays a tarp under the rug while cleaning to protect your floors from any overspray during the process.
Can pet urine be removed from a wool rug?
Absolutely, yes — pet odor removal carries our 100% guarantee. One honest note on the visible stain itself: depending on how long the urine has sat in the rug, and whether anyone tried to clean it before, wool is not the most forgiving fiber about releasing the physical stain. If anybody in Huntsville can get it out, we can. Pet treatment starts at $30 as an add-on; our pet stain and odor page covers the details.
