In a 1910 bungalow, the carpet is only in half the house
The district went up between the late 1890s and the 1930s as part of the 1892 East Huntsville Addition, and the plan barely changed for forty years. One story or one and a half. A broad front porch, a front dormer, small rooms off a short hall. The front of the house almost always has its original wood floors, refinished at some point by an owner who was proud of the job.
So the soft flooring that is left sits in the bedrooms, in whatever rear room got added on decades later, and on a narrow set of stairs. Nobody here has a continuous acre of beige. A typical ticket is two bedrooms off Beirne Avenue, a back den on Randolph Avenue, or a flight of steps in a house near the Vaught House on Ward Avenue.

We move what slides safely, clean under and around it, and set protective pads beneath the legs so nothing bleeds onto damp fiber. Anything heavy, fragile, or built in place stays where it is and we clean right up to it.
