Walk into a suite on Explorer Boulevard or Discovery Drive and the flooring under you is commercial loop or carpet tile, adhered straight to concrete with no pad beneath it. It is engineered for tens of thousands of daily footsteps and it holds up to them well. Water is the thing it does not forgive, because there is nowhere for moisture to go but down into the adhesive.

The soil pattern is predictable too. Gray and charcoal loop hides color but collects an oily film that mats the pile flat, so the floor reads dull long before it reads dirty. Entrances off Old Madison Pike and Voyager Way catch parking-lot grit first and hardest.
